Leftover Ham Recipes - Pennsylvania Dutch Ham Pot Pie
I love ham pot pie. This is not the same as the pot pie known in other parts of the country. This is also called dumplings in some parts of the country. I am not sure what this dish is called where you live, but it is by far my favorite leftover ham recipes. If you need leftover ham recipes, this is one you should absolutely try. I enjoy eating it with ketchup, others enjoy adding onions and vinegar. Test, try, and find your favorite way to enjoy these leftover ham recipes as well. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
8 cups all purpose flour
3 eggs
Water
Leftover ham
6 peeled potatoes
1 teaspoon of salt
Instructions:
1. Place the leftover ham in a large cooking pot with water. Place on medium high heat and allow the meat to boil for 45 to 60 minutes or until the meat is nice and tender and falls off of the bone easily.
2. As the ham cooks, begin to make the batter. Place the flour and eggs into a bowl. Begin to slowly add water as you knead the flour, eggs, and water into a dough. Continue to add water until you have a thick dough. Add water or flour as needed in order to create a thick, sticky dough. It should stick to your hand as you mix the ingredients together. Add the salt to the dough and continue to work all of the ingredients together.
3. Remove the ham from the stove when it is finished and remove the meat from the bone. Peal into small pieces of meat. Leave the water on the stove as it is with the medium high heat still on. Dice your potatoes up and add them to the boiling water as you work on the ham.
4. Once the ham is finished, return it to the boiling water.
5. Lay the dough out on a layer of flour. Flour your rolling pin and begin to roll the dough out into a ΒΌ to 1/8 inch thickness. Take a sharp knife and begin to cut into squares.
6. Take the squares and drop them one at a time into the boiling water. Let cook until the noodles are firm and no longer doughy. This will take about 10 - 15 minutes in order to ensure that all the dough is completely cooked.
7. Remove from heat and serve. Enjoy!

In this video, Betty demonstrates a Brown Sugar Glazed Ham recipe, dating back to her college days (in the '60's). Being a starving student, Betty almost always had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the university cafeteria. One item that was served repeatedly was Glazed Ham. Betty (using her ever-analyzing food talents) created the following recipe as an imitation of the ham served in the cafeteria, and she has continued to make it throughout her 39 (almost 40!) years of marriage. Ingredients: 1 canned ham (I used Hormel brand, 5 pounds. You may use any brand, and reduce it to 3 pounds, if desired.) 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed 2 tablespoons prepared mustard 1 teaspoon orange juice (You may use another flavor of juice or a juice drink.) Remove the canned ham from the container and place in a crock pot on low for 6 to 8 hours. You may need to cut it into two pieces to get it to fit in the crock pot. When you are ready to put your Brown Sugar Glazed Ham recipe together, remove the ham from the crock pot, and place it on a tray for slicing. Use a kitchen knife, slicer, or electric knife to slice the ham into equal pieces. You may decide to leave some of the ham unglazed for guests who prefer to skip the brown sugar flavor. In a small bowl, mix 1 cup of firmly packed brown sugar with 2 tablespoons of prepared mustard. Use about 1 teaspoon of orange juice to get them to combine. Now spread the tops and bottoms of your sliced ham and place them in an appropriately-sized ... Video Rating: 4 / 5
